Windows have to withstand the onslaught of the weather, like strong winds, lashing rain, freezing snow and even sometimes baking heat. This can all take its toll on the frame and the glass.
Usually it is the window frame or casing that begins to show signs of damage or decay – particularly if they are made of wood. Not only does this look unsightly, but it can often lead to allowing chilly draughts through the casement, and water finding its way into the wall cavities.
When your windows begin to show their age, or if you have an older property with thermally in-efficient single-glazed windows, it’s time to replace them with new low-maintenance double or triple-glazed windows that will save on energy bills, provide you with more security, keep noise out and increase the value of your property.
Making the decision to replace your windows may be a wise one, but it is not easy because there are so many options available and factors to consider.
We at Alan Joy understand that when you invest in replacement windows, they need to be durable enough to last for many years, be aesthetically suitable for your property, and perform their task of keeping you warm, dry and secure with as little maintenance as possible. Our years of experience in replacing windows in Wiltshire means we are best-placed to advise you on the right type of new windows for your home or commercial property.
We consult with you every step of the way, starting off with determining your needs, preferred design, budget and the functions the windows need to perform. Just a telephone call is all it takes to open the window to the realm of possibilities; our team is happy to give a no-obligation quotation for replacing your old windows with new ones anywhere across Wiltshire and Somerset, including Trowbridge, Melksham, Warminster, Westbury, Calne, Chippenham, Bath and Corsham.
It is our policy to supply and fit only A-rated replacement windows. These are windows that have been tested by the British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC) and graded on a scale according to energy efficiency. The scale goes from A+ to G, with A being the most efficient.
Much of the energy efficiency comes down to the glazing used in the windows. Double-glazed windows consist of two panes of glass with air in between – triple-glazed windows have three panes of glass.
The most common type of window frame preferred for replacement windows is a uPVC frame, because not only are they cheaper than traditional wooden window frames but the material is also highly durable, recyclable and extremely easy to keep clean. No painting required – just a wipe down with a cloth every so often. uPVC windows are available in a variety of colours and finishes – woodgrain effects are suitable for period properties.
While uPVC replacement windows are definitely most popular closely followed by aluminium, we are also able to supply and fit replacement timber windows.
We also help you to choose the style of windows to suit your property, whether it be traditional up-and-down sash windows, bay or bow windows, sliders, tilt and turn windows or the more common side-hinged windows.
