According to the British Plastics Federation uPVC windows are the UK consumers’ top choice, with 8 out of every 10 replacement windows installed being made from this versatile, tough and attractive product.
Our professional window installation team at Alan Joy has a wealth of knowledge and experience when it comes to choosing and fitting the right windows to suit any property, and we recommend uPVC windows nine times out of ten!
One of the promises we make to our clients is to deliver value for money, and that is certainly what you get when you choose cost-effective uPVC windows. This, coupled with the high energy savings you will enjoy over the life of the windows, and the low (almost non-existent) maintenance costs, make uPVC windows an obvious choice whether you are replacing old windows or fitting windows in a new build.
uPVC (unplasticized polyvinyl chloride) starts life as a plastic powder that is treated with specialised additives and stabilisers according to a formula that makes it perfect for the manufacture of uPVC windows. The molten plastic material is forced into precision window profile dies, cooled rapidly and then cut to the required size. The cut sections are usually reinforced with steel or aluminium and then welded together using heat fusion.
The result is a light but strong window frame that is ready to be fitted with hardware such as high security locks, window handles and friction stays, as well as made-to-measure glass.

Energy Efficient
Keep the warmth in!
uPVC is also a popular material for framing conservatories and garden rooms, doors, carports and verandas and even fascia’s and soffits.
The minimum life-expectancy of uPVC window frame is around 35 years, but most remain performing and looking as good as new for far longer.
If you do need to replace your uPVC windows for any reason, one of the benefits of uPVC is its sustainability – it can be recycled up to 10 times, which is a big plus for the environment.
More than 25,000 tons of uPVC window frames are recycled in the UK each year.

Apart from the relatively low price, our clients love uPVC windows because they come in such a vast range of colours and finishes.
Many prefer fresh bright white, but you can order your uPVC windows in a style, colour and finish to match your house, whether it is a heritage property or a contemporary building.
uPVC is a low conductor of heat, which means uPVC windows keep the heat inside, and the cold out. Because of the way they are manufactured uPVC windows have excellent seals, and multiple chambers in their profiles, which further enhance their thermal ability. When fitted with double-glazing, this makes them the most energy efficient windows available.
We only supply and fit A-rated windows, which is the highest standard of energy efficiency as graded by the British Fenestration Rating Council.
If your energy bills are soaring, and your old windows rattling with cold draughts, it’s time to give us a call!
Our friendly receptionist, Tina, will arrange for one of our uPVC window experts to meet with you and explain the options, providing a no-obligation quotation.
